As proposed by the legendary Arthur C. Clarke, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Doctor Who has skirted the line throughout its long history, from its wibbly-wobbly junk science to the literal use of magic itself, but often times still remaining completely plausible. We’ll discuss the use of science, magic and reason in the show, and figure out what’s based in reality, what’s theoretically possible, and what has been made up for the good of the story.
