Joy's a K-12 Librarian at a Manhattan independent school. As a freelance writer, she has contributed to Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch and reviewed YA literature for School Library Journal. Since 2017, she has co-produced Reality Bomb: A Doctor Who Podcast with Graeme Burk. You can also hear her on Five Years Rapid, a podcast covering the Third Doctor's era, co-hosted with Kyle Anderson. Along with Rachel Donner and Graeme Burk, she organized the Gallifrey Stands fundraisers which raised money and awareness for issues such as gun violence and educational access.

Joy is a founding member of the Fan Organizers Coalition, a group working to advance social justice-oriented, active fan communities. Finally, she is very proud to partner with Nicole Hill (a.k.a.
